Bobby Deen treated me like a celebrity at Barnes and Nobles last night!
Last night, I had the honor to meet Bobby Deen at his book signing at the Cary Barnes and Nobles where I had my event there last month. The fifteen minutes I spent with him will never be forgotten. He could not have been kinder to me and my family and I gave him an apron for his mom, Paula Deen, that I sewed for her to thank her for supporting my cooking adventures this year. Although Bobby is a celebrity he is so kind and down to earth, just like you see him and his family on TV. Enjoy the photos!
My Chicken Taco Chili was a big hit at Whole Foods!
Thank you to Whole Foods in Cary, NC for having me as a special guest for their annual Employee Chili Cook off. I made a delicious Chicken Taco Chili that is very kid and family friendly. It was made in a crock pot and required no slicing or dicing. It is great for a cold night, a quick dinner before sports and freezes well. I love cooking with their 365 products, most are organic and taste wonderful. They also work with local growers to bring their customers the freshest and best products available. Please visit my You Tube Channel to see more of my afternoon at Whole Foods….wish I had smell-a-vision for you…it was so good! http://www.youtube.com/user/athomewithsydney?feature=results_main
Thank you to Chef Smith and everyone at Bruegger’s Bagels for a day I will never forget!
Yesterday I had the honor of cooking Bruegger’s Bagels with their head Chef, Philip Smith. I learned what ingredients go into making a bagel, how they are kettled and then baked and then I got to show Chef Smith some of my recipes. I know you would love to know as well so soon I will be sharing by day at Bruegger’s with you!
Bruegger’s Bagels has invited me to cook with their head Chef Philip Smith!
Bruegger’s Bagels has asked me to cook with their head Chef Philip Smith on his visit to Raleigh NC. As you know this is my favorite food and I am looking forward to finding out how Bruegger’s makes their bagels and I have all kinds of questions to ask Chef Smith.
Yesterday I visited the store to meet him. You would have thought that I was the celebrity! I was greeted at the door not only by the head chef himself, Josh the District Manager, Margaret the Bakery Manager and Laurie, the Media Relations Manager of SPM Communications who along with Tracy has made this wonderful opportunity for me possible.
Today Chef Smith will be showing me how the Bagel’s are made and I will be showing him some of my favorite bagel recipes that you can make at home. I know that all of you reading this love their bagels too so I will share my adventures at Bruegger’s today soon with you on my You Tube Channel, “At Home with Sydney”.
Thank you to everyone at Bruegger’s Bagels and SPM Communications.
My visit to the Apex Bruegger’s Bagels
Allan, the owner of the Apex Bruegger’s Bagels took me on a tour of his kitchen. It was an amazing experience especially since my favorite food, that I could eat every day of the year, is a Bruegger’s Bagel! If you haven’t visited his restaurant you have to put it on your list. They are located at 760 W Williams St, Apex, NC in the shopping plaza with Harris Teeter just off 55 and Olive Chapel Road.
They bake their bagels fresh all day long and one of their chefs even has his own personal touch on their panini sandwiches! I am not going to tell you what it is…you will have to stop by and try it for yourself.
Valentine’s day will be here soon and Allan and his staff have a real treat in store for you. They will be making heart shaped red bagels. This is one seasonal bagel you do not want to miss.
We recently visited Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton
If you are ever around the Boca Raton area in Florida, be sure to visit the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center just above Palmetto Park Road and A1A. It is a rescue park for sea life and has so many wonderful volunteers that have dedicated many years to the park and are so knowledgeable about the animals. I am also proud to say that Whole Foods, who I work with donated money to them.
