Mom went to Piccadilly Circus when we went to the Archery and medal ceremony. There were all kinds of flags decorating the streets and they had shops just like the ones in the USA. There was a theater district, lots of statues…some of them even real…can you tell which ones they are? The horse mom met was named, “Hot Dog”.

Dinner at Horniman at the Hays a traditional English Pub
We had dinner right by the London Bridge and Big Ben. The Olympic Rings on the bridge were breathtaking. Do you know why the bridge has blue paint on it? It is the Queen’s favorite color!
McDonald’s Happy Meal Toys
McDonald’s gave all of the Champions of Play these Olympic Happy Meal Toys….they are so cool and represent sports that I saw and also paraplegic Olympic sports!
Archery at Lord’s Sports Ground
I think this was the highlight of my trip. My friends and I got to go behind the scenes at Lord’s Sports Ground where the Archery takes place. We got to meet the US Olympic team who had just got a silver medal…and yes…I got to hold it…it was heavy and so beautiful. Then we got to actually shoot at a target and were coached by the Olympic coaches themselves. I had a blast and I got a bulls eye! Did you know that they have an entire field for them to practice in before the come and shoot in front of the camera? The wall that they are shooting at with the targets is also the wall between the field and the dining room. Good thing they have good aim! The bow was smaller than what they use to shoot. Their bows are taller tan I am! When I get home, I want to take up archery.

I got to hold the Olympic Torch!
Before the opening ceremony for the XXX London Olympic Games, the torch came right in from of our Hotel, The London Lancaster. A few days later, I was privileged to hold the torch. A memory and opportunity of a lifetime. The torch also traveled on the Thames River and under the London Bridge. The silver torch was used in the 1948 Olympics.
