Archery at Lord’s Sports Ground

I think this was the highlight of my trip. My friends and I got to go behind the scenes at Lord’s Sports Ground where the Archery takes place. We got to meet the US Olympic team who had just got a silver medal…and yes…I got to hold it…it was heavy and so beautiful. Then we got to actually shoot at a target and were coached by the Olympic coaches themselves. I had a blast and I got a bulls eye! Did you know that they have an entire field for them to practice in before the come and shoot in front of the camera? The wall that they are shooting at with the targets is also the wall between the field and the dining room. Good thing they have good aim! The bow was smaller than what they use to shoot. Their bows are taller tan I am! When I get home, I want to take up archery.

I got to hold the Olympic Torch!

Before the opening ceremony for the XXX London Olympic Games, the torch came right in from of our Hotel, The London Lancaster. A few days later, I was privileged to hold the torch. A memory and opportunity of a lifetime.  The torch also traveled on the Thames River and under the London Bridge.  The silver torch was used in the 1948 Olympics.

Ronald McDonald signed all of the tote bags that I brought for my new friends from all around the USA

Ronald signed all of the bags as did the Champions of Play from the USA. I hope to always stay in touch with the friends that I met and had so much fun with.
